The 2023 International Fly-Fishing Association home international river competition was held on the 23rd June on our own river Ebbw.
20 top anglers representing England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales competed for a total of 6 hours along the river and despite the low water levels managed to catch and release a goodly number of healthy fish.
The day was a complete success with the organisers praising and thanking the Club for the opportunity to fish the river that is an excellent venue that provides high quality sport in a very pleasant but challenging environment.
It was an exciting day with the lead going back and fore throughout the day before the overall winners emerged.
Congratulations to the Wales team who were the overall winners of the ‘Geoff Clarkson’ Trophy and to our very own Simon Barton who was individual top rod and carried off the coveted ‘Moc Morgan’ Trophy for landing the most fish on the day, as well as being in the frame for the largest fish of the day. VERY WELL DONE SIMON.
Many thanks to all our Members who volunteered and helped to make the event such a great success.
We look forward to welcoming the Teams back again in the future should the opportunity arise.
