Covid-19 Update

Dear Members,

It has been confirmed that only the club's rivers will be open for fishing to our members with immediate effect. Unfortunately Pen-y-Fan Pond will remain closed

until further guidance is received in relation to “Country Parks”.

There are strict conditions to this partial opening which may not benefit many of you, but will allow some of you the opportunity to go fishing.

The conditions are as follows:

NRW: Coronovirus ( COVID- 19) and fisheries (angling) advice:

Updated 12th May @ 1600

On Monday 11th May, Welsh Government updated its guidance on recreational outing in Wales.

This means there is currently a limited return to angling in Wales.

Angling is permitted as part of an individual’s daily exercise with the following caveats:

  • Anglers are able to fish within their immediate locality without driving.

  • Social distancing guidelines must be strictly observed.

  • Anglers must also ensure they are in possession of a valid rod fishing licence, must adhere to fisheries bylaws including the close season, and have permission of the fishery owner.

  • Anglers should not travel to Wales from England for the purpose of angling.

  • Otherwise anglers and angling within Wales should continue to follow the stay at home guidance issued by the Welsh Government.

The stay-at-home message in Wales has NOT changed. You should stay at home with the following conditions:-

  • Only go outside for food, heath reasons or work (but only if it is not reasonably practicable to work from home)

  • Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people and wash your hands as soon as you get home.

Anyone can spread the virus.

“Staying at home is the best way to protect yourself and others”

The ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak will impact all in different ways.

During this time, please follow the latest guidance on the Welsh Government web site: https://gov.wales/coronavirus

The situation is evolving and is constantly under review. This note will be updated following any new guidance from Welsh Government.

Useful information for anglers:

  • Angling Trust Covid – 19 resource hub for advice for Fisheries closed during the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Coronavirus – guidance on access to green spaces.

  • Institute of Fishers Management  - Advice for Fishers closed during the coronavirus pandemic.

Additionally all club members will be required to wear gloves when opening or closing any gates or locks at the fishery and have hand sanitiser available to sterilise their hands.

Please use your common sense and stay safe.

Kind regards,

The Committee
